Took the plunge

I feel like the weight has been lifted.
And a little like a bad ass who just gave the middle finger to the suits sitting atop the glass tower at the cable companies.

I did it.
I said adios to cable.
Specifically to AT&T's wireless U-verse cable.
Kicked it to the curb.
Was tired of the $69/mo fees for shoes like Duck Dynasty, Mob Wives, endless sports channels and Military TV that I never watched.

So I sucked it up and made a decision to read more, watch less TV.
Instead, for $16/mo I have Netflix and Hulu accounts.

And pick and choose what feels good to watch.
And don't have to click through ridiculous channels filled with shitastic shows like Honey Boo Boo, Dance Moms and Toddlers and Tiaras.

I will miss watching some shows, but Matthew Crawley from Downton Abbey will still be with me to fill my Sunday evenings so there's that.

And if I can't get enough of Nene Leakes from Real Housewives of Atlanta I suppose I can just log onto Bravo's website and catch some clips here and there.

  1. There are also a lot of shows on Hulu. I got ride of cable when I was moving and just never signed back up. Hulu is basically the TV version of Netflix and its only $8 a month.

    1. Yup, I've had a Hulu account for about 2 months now...not bad...though I wish they had some more Bravo shows featured :)!

  2. We got rid of cable last spring, and I don't really miss it at all. And if we can't find what we're looking for on Netflix, I just buy the single episode on Amazon.com instant streaming and watch it from my Roku (buy the box, no monthly fee!)

  3. There's just one think I need to say: You're seriously missing out by not watching Honey Boo Boo. ;)

    1. I gave up that show once I saw the one where Momma June was makin' sketti and I nearly vomited in my mouth. They are from GA, but holy hell!
