The gentleman who bought me lunch PART 3

Previous installment can be found here.

The waves started to become larger and sporadic and current's strength caused me great difficulty standing with my feet sinking into the sand as the water crept to my knees.  Minutes prior the water appeared calm and thoughtful but now it was beginning to unleash a small fury on our party.    Everyone was quiet and while no words were being spoken among us, there appeared to be a bit of trepidation among us.  The crashing of the waves were the only sounds I heard for a span of five minutes.  An uneasiness grew inside me, and I opted to drift back to our dinner table back at the house veranda - out of the water's way.  By now the sun had nearly set and the only light was the reflection of the stars dancing on the water and distant house lights.

Before I could turn around I felt someone grab my hand and hold it tight as if our grip would be hard unclench.  I turned to see who it was assuming it was my father as the strength of the pull was that of a man's.  As I looked up from the water I nearly lost my breath.  It was him.  The mysterious gentleman from the cafeteria had a tight hold on my right hand immediately began to cup his other hand over our bond.  I couldn't speak, though my mind was racing so fast I couldn't keep up with my thoughts.  His touch had a powerful affect on me and his demeanor caused an overwhelming sense of inner calmness.  He said nothing, but just smiled and gazed into my eyes.

It was at that moment I knew.  I knew I had found my forever love and God had answered my prayers.  This mysterious gentleman had shown up just days after our first meeting.  And while he was not the prince on a white horse with stunningly gorgeous looks, I was this time immediately attracted to him in a way I had never been with any other man.  A feeling of security blanketed me in a way I had never experienced.  All of the sudden I had found the love I had always pleaded with God for.  Instantly upon looking into this man's eyes I knew.

The waves were still growing with fury and his tight grip acknowledged to me without words he was here for me - to rescue me and to complete me.  He swept me up into his arms and carried me back to the sand and gently laid me down away from the crashing waves.  Family and friends dispersed and meandered back to the house, but we continued to talk for hours under the light of the dancing stars and moon.  As we talked, my heart skipped a few proverbial beats and everything in the universe seemed right again.

At 7:12 a.m. my alarm began to buzz indicating it was time for me to wake.   Those secure and hopeful feelings of calmness and wholesomeness vanished with the reality that everything was but a figment of my imagination.

The gentleman was in my dream, however my quest to find my forever love continues.  And, while my first reaction was to piss and moan about the fact that I had just woken up to the realization of my singledom, it quickly subsided when I realized that sometimes dreams do come true.  Perhaps it was God's way of reminding me that one day I will eventually find the jelly to complete my perfect peanut butter sandwich.

Perhaps.

  2. So, I kinda wanna smack you (lovingly) for making me believe you'd found the one! ;) But I love your positive attitude at the end, and you're totally right about dreams coming true. I mean, I don't believe that dreams come true the way we believe they will, and I don't believe there is ONE person out there for us, but I do believe there are several and that we are very lucky if we find one of them.

    xoxo

    1. I know, I know --- bum end to the story, but even today I still have this feeling that it was God's way of telling me that soon enough it will be my turn.

  4. Dreams do come true. Sometimes you have to wade through a lot of crashing, high water, but you will find your forever love. God has a plan and even though it's really hard to wait for Him to reveal it sometimes, it is always worth it!

    1. Completely an entire dream. I would be magical if it were IRL.
